This series uses the steady disappearance of Hong Kong’s famous neon signs as a metaphor for the difficulty of growth and change.
It is not a political comment on the plight of Hong Kong’s neon lights or a comment on cultural degeneration, it is more a personal reflection on the fear of change, loss and the difficulties of an uncertain future.
Dealing with these things can often be a lonely process hence there is a melancholic atmosphere in each of these photos. The solitary neon signs shouting their lights softly across an almost empty city, act as the protagonists. In a way, the central role in the work belongs simply to light itself
